Nightfall Returns: A Spooky Adventure From Haunted Halls to Troll Trails Doubles in Size for 2025
August 7, 2025, Woodside, CA – Filoli is thrilled to announce the return of Nightfall, an after-dark immersive adventure for all ages and the only chance to see TROLLS: Save the Humans glowing in the moonlight. This year’s event marks a major expansion—nearly double in size—bringing guests from the haunted halls of the Historic House through the magical meadow and into the woods where new wonders await. Launching October 3, 2025, Nightfall will run for nearly 40 nights through November 10, 2025.
“The community response from Nightfall was phenomenal and we knew we needed to create a grand adventure for 2025,” said Kara Newport, President & CEO of Filoli. “Thomas Dambo’s Trolls have invited our guests into the Natural Lands and they will be guardians and guides for our expanded experience that will immerse them into a moonlit dream-like night in the California mountains.”
This year, the candlelit House transforms into a Gothic dream state from the past where a witches’ apothecary has come to life. Central to the experience is the Ballroom, where guests will step into a witches’ gathering to enjoy themed treats and tinctures. A Witches Tea will take over during the day on weekends, and a champagne lounge will be available in the evenings. Both require advance reservations and a separate ticket.
In the Meadow, large pumpkin arches will lead the way through flickering jack-o’-lanterns, and a range of Halloween games and decor. Guests can enjoy live music and fire pits while savoring seasonal food and drink. Private fire pit experiences will also be available for rental.
The adventure will continue in the Redwoods as guests traverse a Scarecrow Crossing to make their way to the Woodlands where wonder awaits. Guests will encounter gigantic banana slugs and take a fairy light trail marked only by the twinkling lights of these mythical creatures. The Redwoods is the central hub of the experience with a Hay Maze, Shadow Creatures, and a Blacklight Mushroom Forest. Five of Dambo’s Trolls will be featured, as well as an activity zone for kids, located by Filoli’s new Nature Playspace. A music stage, food and drink options, and professional Tarot readings will complete The Redwoods experience.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday, August 16. Nightfall 2025 runs from October 3 through November 10. Tickets and additional information are available at filoli.org/nightfall.

About Trolls: Save the Humans
Six larger-than-life Trolls have taken up residence at Filoli Historic House and Garden. Six of Danish artist Thomas Dambo’s gigantic folklore-inspired sculptures are currently nestled among the redwoods in an outdoor exhibition that explores the intersection of folklore, poetry, sustainability, and the human relationship to the natural environment. TROLLS: Save the Humans runs through November 10, 2025. Nightfall will be the only opportunity to view the Trolls after dark.
