Filoli brings family fun, Dynasty-inspired drag, and flower-filled beauty to the San Francisco Pride lineup

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Woodside, CA, April, 9 2024– Filoli is kicking off Pride month with a weekend of joyful creative expression and experiences that celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. This historic estate bursts into a rainbow of fun with experiences from Drag Queen Storytime to Queer Taiko, and after-dark dance parties that sparkle into the night. Kickoff the month with an off-the-beaten-path San Francisco pride event that is unlike any other.

Dragtopia

Superfans go on a pilgrimage hundreds of miles every year to visit the filming location of the hit 1980’s TV show Dynasty, Filoli’s immaculate 1917 historic 56-room mansion. This historic estate celebrates its Dynasty connection for Pride with an homage to the glitz, glam, catfights, and caviar in their Dragtopia opening night party

On Friday, May 31, 2024, from 5:30-8pm, Queens and Kings descend upon Filoli for a night of fabulous delights. The House and Garden will sparkle with drag performers and a DJ on the Garden stage, an art show in the Ballroom, and a Dynasty look-a-like competition. Dress up or come as you are to join this camp night at Filoli for fun-loving folks of all ages.

The fun doesn’t have to end at 8pm– by popular demand Filoli has added the Dragtopia Afterparty. Dance into the night with DJ Bear Mittens and go-go dancers in the House Courtyard. Drag optional, joy required!

Pride Weekend

Next up on June 1 and 2, 2024, from 10am-5pm, guests can catch live performances and experiences throughout the day, including Drag Queen Storytime, Queer Taiko, Flower Crown Making, a sound bath by Banyan Tree Women’s Collective, and more.

Meet with representatives from local LGBTQ+ organizations at their tables in the Garden and visit the Clock Tower Shop for products from queer vendors. A rainbow of beauty frames the experience all throughout Filoli’s historic House and Garden. Ribbons of Remembrance flutter between the London Plane trees, Pride flags drape from the House balconies, and floral arrangements by Nigella SF decorate Filoli’s historic interior.
