Filoli Springs into the Season with Thousands of Blooms

Spring Service Courtyard Compressed

WOODSIDE, Calif., March 3, 2022–  Filoli is an expansive landscape situated on the unceded ancestral lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone. Today, this estate serves as a community cultural center and announces a season of fun: Spring at Filoli has begun! “We are delighted to welcome another spring season to Filoli,” says CEO Kara Newport, “after a record breaking year of visitation, we expect a breathtaking spring complete with glorious Garden displays, floral arrangements, and experiences that are sure to provide inspiration to the Bay Area.”

In the Garden, a rainbow of tulips, daffodils, wisteria, and cherry blossoms are filling Filoli’s landscape with sweet fragrance and cheerful blooms. Filoli’s spring display includes thousands of bulbs, planted and timed so there’s spring color all season. The Sunken Garden alone holds 5,000 ‘Blushing Lady’ tulips. This year, a record number of over 86,000 bulbs are planted including over 47,000 tulips in more than 30 varieties and over 21,000 narcissus bulbs. Those numbers don’t include the estimated 1 million narcissus in more than 15 varieties that bloom each year in Filoli’s iconic daffodil meadow.  who want to experience Filoli during this spectacular season should plan ahead and purchase tickets in advance – sellout weekends are expected!

In Filoli’s historic House, the flower-filled season continues with Bringing the Garden Indoors. Visitors will learn how Filoli’s builders, Agnes and William Bourn, connected the inside of their home to their lush garden outside through fresh floral arrangements, architecture, decor, and art. New soundscapes enliven each room, rare floral-themed porcelain is on display, and each week fresh floral arrangements are cut and created by Filoli Horticulturists.

Member Mornings welcome Filoli Members to the Garden at 9am on weekends, March 5- May 29. This perk allows members to enjoy the Garden during Filoli’s busiest season an hour before the general public. Filoli’s popular Gift Memberships are available in the Clock Tower Shop and online, perfect for a Mother’s Day present! Filoli fans can give the gift of year-round experiences to Mom, Grandma, or any special someone in their life. Visit filoli.org/membership to learn more about membership.

New shopping and dining experiences are blooming with the rest of the season. In the Clock Tower Shop, spring blooms and florals are highlighted in home decor, bedding, and kitchenware. Herbs, pollinator plants, spring perennials, and gardening gear are available in the Clock Tower Shop nursery and make a perfect gift for any home gardener.  The Quail’s Nest Café by The Town Kitchen offers a fresh seasonal menu, including salads, soups, sandwiches and bowls with vegan and gluten-free options. Visitors can order Tea for Two service and sit down with their selection of any two teas and two desserts, served daily. Visit filoli.org/dining-shopping for more information about the Clock Tower Shop and Quail’s Nest Café.

Filoli’s Garden Bar will also be open on weekends from 11am – 4pm, serving a variety of beers, wines, and spring-themed specialty cocktails. Try the vodka-spiked Shirley Temple Whirley Shirley, the wine spritzer Crystal Springs Spritzer garnished with a fresh sprig of rosemary from the Garden, or the kid-friendly orange juice and grenadine concoction Orange Sunrise.
