Filoli Appoints New Board Members, Officers for 2026

WOODSIDE, CA, December 3, 2025 — Filoli announced today the appointment of new members to its Board of Directors, as well as the 2026 slate of officers. Those joining the board in 2026 are:

  • Jackie Chang, who, following a 16-year career at Meta, applies her expertise to advancing cultural access, stewardship, and community engagement;
  • Senna Davies, who is a dedicated marketing and technology specialist, is currently a Partnerships Associate at Alembic Technologies and will fill the Filoli Board’s Intergenerational Member seat;
  • Susan Ketcham, who works in the field of philanthropy, including prior positions at the Hewlett Foundation and at Hirsch Philanthropy Partners;
  • Ethan Lipsig, who was a partner at one of the world’s largest law firms for more than 30 years specializing in employment and tax law, where he pioneered the 401(k) plan;
  • Sapna Marfatia, who is the Director of Architecture at Stanford University’s Architecture and Campus Design Office; 
  • Ron Peyton, who is executive chairman of Callan, where he provides firmwide oversight to improve communications, process, service quality, and retention;
  • Carol Quillen, who is the 10th President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; 
  • Rachel Royer, who is Vice President, Development & Construction at Jamestown where she leads development and construction of adaptive reuse projects and placemaking efforts in the San Francisco Bay Area; 
  • David Wollenberg, who is returning to the Filoli Board, and who, after earning degrees from Brown and Stanford, went on to become President of the Cortana Corporation and Managing Trustee for the Wollenberg Foundation; and 
  • Nancy Young, who is a principal with Baker Tilly’s tax practice and has more than 20 years experience providing all aspects of tax planning and compliance services 

Filoli once again partnered with Potrero Group, which designed and facilitated an open community search for potential new Board Members on behalf of the Filoli Board.

Stepping into the role of Chair of the Board of Directors will be Sydney Si Ning Leung, who served in 2025 as the Board’s Vice Chair. Filoli extends its deepest gratitude to outgoing board chair, David Wessel, who is completing his tenure as Board Chair. 

“It’s been my honor to serve Filoli and to welcome our new Board members. I look forward to stepping into the role of Chair of the Board in 2026, a mantle I’m assuming from a friend and true leader, David Wessel, whose own service is an inspiration and a model,” Leung said. “I’m keenly aware of the ways in which I represent a number of ‘firsts’ as Board Chair at Filoli – first gay man, first immigrant, first Asian – and I look forward to bringing my unique lived experience to my service as Chair.”

Joining Leung as leaders of the Board are David Wessel, Former Chair; Pulin Sanghvi, Vice Chair; Melissa Lopez, Treasurer; and Leslie Witt, Secretary.

Throughout 2026, the Board remains focused on the organization’s ambitious Strategic Plan which focuses on community connections and expanding Filoli’s reach throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Also in 2026, Filoli will continue to expand the estate’s footprint open to the general public, which includes its Natural Lands spaces designed especially for children and their families, and the planned debut of a new estate-wide art installation and exhibition.

Current Board Members who will be completing their service to the Board of Directors in 2025 are: Maryles Casto, Lauren Foster, Di Gao, Taylor Glatt, Bob Nibbi, Carol Moran, Michelle Taite, Matthew Worby, and Alan Zafran.

Jackie Chang is passionate about fostering inclusive spaces where families and future generations can learn, create, and thrive. Over her sixteen-year career at Meta, she led business development, product partnerships, and organizational initiatives that scaled new products through global collaboration and platforms. Today, she applies her expertise to advancing access, cultural stewardship, and community engagement. Jackie also serves on the Board of CuriOdyssey and is a Founding Member of Gold House’s Creative Patron’s Circle. A Bay Area transplant and UC Berkeley alumna, she lives in Hillsborough with her husband and two children.

Senna Davies is a dedicated marketing and technology specialist with a passion for transforming data into clear, impactful strategy. A graduate of San Diego State University and currently a Partnerships Associate at Alembic Technologies, she brings a thoughtful blend of analytical rigor and creative insight to her work, helping teams identify opportunities and support meaningful growth. Beyond her professional endeavors, Senna enjoys exploring local art, culinary spaces, and has a lifelong fondness for animals.

Susan Ketcham is a graduate of the Wharton School with a career in financial management and planning. She works in the philanthropy field, including prior positions at the Hewlett Foundation and at Hirsch Philanthropy Partners. She brings expertise in planning and strategy to support organizations in their growth. Among the non-profit organizations Ms. Ketcham supports are: Samaritan House of San Mateo, CALL Primrose food pantry, Lambda Legal, Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo, the Community School of Music and the Arts, and Peninsula Family Services.

Ethan Lipsig was born and raised in New York until his parents moved him to Southern California at age 11. He has lived there ever since, except for his time studying at Oxford University. Ethan was a partner at one of the world’s largest law firms for more than 30 years, specializing in employment and tax law. He invented—or at least pioneered—several notable concepts, including the 401(k) plan. Ethan and his wife are avid gardeners.

Sapna Marfatia is the Director of Architecture at the Stanford University’s Architecture and Campus Design Office. Sapna’s professional experience spans Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, Historic Preservation and teaching. She has a bachelors in architecture, masters in urban design, and masters in liberal arts. As the Director of Architecture, she assists in the selection of architectural and preservation consultant teams, monitors design guidelines from formulation through construction to convey architectural concepts, and collaborates with University partners to create a vision for preservation of iconic buildings. Marfatia has authored publications and served on boards: Los Altos Historical Commission, AIA Silicon Valley Chapter, Filoli Board of Directors, and Stanford Historical Society.

Ron Peyton is executive chairman of Callan, where he provides firmwide oversight to improve communications, process, service quality, and retention. He regularly meets with clients, associates, and senior industry professionals. He also engages in industry and community events through speaking, writing, and service opportunities. Ron chairs the Callan Board of Directors, is a member of Callan’s Institute Advisory Committee, and is a shareholder of the firm.

Carol Quillen is the 10th  President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and joined the National Trust in January 2024. She has received numerous academic awards, and earned fellowships from the Mellon Foundation, the Whiting Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation, and  Villa I Tatti, Harvard’s Center for Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy. Carol is the author of two books and many articles. She earned a B.A. in American history from the University of Chicago, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with special and general honors, and a Ph.D. in European history from Princeton University. She then joined the History Department at Rice University, serving there on the faculty, as the founding director of the Boniuk Center and as a vice provost and vice president before she was named president of Davidson.

Rachel Royer is Vice President, Development & Construction at Jamestown. She leads development and construction of adaptive re-use projects and placemaking efforts in the San Francisco Bay Area for assets outside Jamestown’s portfolio. Ms. Royer’s 20 years of real estate development experience includes ground up construction and adaptive reuse, leading end-to-end project execution from concept level pre-development, through entitlements, design, permits and construction. She is the current Chair of the San Jose Historic Landmarks Commission and holds a BA in Urban Planning from the University at Albany and a MS in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.

David Wollenberg is returning to the Filoli Board of Directors and is a former Chair.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown and an MBA from Stanford, going on to become President of the Cortana Corporation. He also supports the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, as well as The Wollenberg Foundation, for which he is the Managing Trustee. David serves on the Stanford Live Arts Council and is the Director Emeritus of Rebuilding Together Peninsula.

Nancy Young is a principal with Baker Tilly’s tax practice. She has more than 20 years of experience in providing all aspects of tax planning and compliance services to multistate and multinational corporations and partnerships, as well as high-net-worth family groups. She also has considerable experience providing assurance services and overseeing audit engagements for her tax clients.
