Next, let's take some time to appreciate what blooms this month has to offer!

Marigolds are in bloom throughout the Vegetable and Cutting Gardens. Their petals are edible with a citrusy, peppery taste. Their tall, sturdy stems and bold colorful appearance make for excellent cut flowers.
Get your fill of dreamy blue Hydrangeas hidden away in the white lattice alcove in the Walled Garden. Did you know you can help some Hydrangeas maintain a natural blue shade by keeping the soil at a high acidic level?
Despite its name, Rose of Sharon is actually a Hibiscus shrub that blooms in late summer - a perfect addition of color at the end of the season!
Though considered a classic English garden plant, Hollyhock originated in China. Spot these towering flower spikes in the Walled Garden.
The Dahlia Bed is still blooming next to the Knot Gardens! The colorful flowers are native to Mexico and Central America and were cultivated by the Aztecs.
The Hybrid Tea Rose 'Elle' is a stunner in the Chartres Garden. Its mixed yellow and pink coloring is reminiscent of a sunset.
Pumpkin and Squash are bursting out of their beds! There are several varieties of Summer and Winter Squash making their home in the Vegetable Garden.
Zinnias bring a burst of color to the Cutting Garden. These flowers are easy to grow, and their blooms on long stems make them great for bouquets!
Look in the cages in the Cutting Garden to see Pineapple Lilies showing off. (These hardy plants are recommended for those with brown thumbs!)
Pink and white Begonias frame the roses in the Chartres Garden beds. Did you know that Begonias have separate male and female flowers that are borne on the same plant?
Each year, the rare Snail Vine blooms on the east Cutting Garden cage. Named for the unique shape of its flowers, the vine has blooms with a similar fragrance as hyacinths.
In summer, Sunflowers dot the landscape. This giant towers over the Vegetable Garden.
Several varieties of Stonecrop bloom in the Perennial Border -- a great choice to attract bees and butterflies.
Though fall is near, Filoli's Rose Garden is still blooming! The Shrub Rose variety 'Carefree Delight' is currently showing off clusters of pink-white beauty.
In the Vegetable Garden, you can wander through a tunnel of Hops! This climbing herbaceous perennial helps to keep beer fresh and is a key component of a beer's aroma and flavor.
The towering maroon plumes of Mexican Grain Amaranth can be found in the Vegetable Garden. The grain is gluten-free and can be toasted and popped, ground into flour, or eaten whole.
