Spot the begonias in the Walled Garden and in pots accenting the House terraces. Did you know that begonias have separate male and female flowers that are borne on the same plant?
The Japanese anemones in the Dutch Garden may look delicate, but these low-maintenance flowers are great for cutting and bloom through mid-fall.
Marigolds, like these in the Cutting Garden, are an important flower during Día de los Muertos. Their strong scent is said to lead souls back home from their burial places.
The 100-year-old dwarf pomegranate shrubs are providing their seasonal color along the back of the House!
Wander through the Woodland Garden, where dogwoods and Japanese maples have begun to create a canopy of red and orange leaves.
Commonly known as Chilean bellflower, Lapageria rosea blooms year round and is the national flower of Chile. Spot it by the staff gate on your left across from the Garden House before you enter the Walled Garden.
Look out for the purple blooms of sea lavender, also known as seafoam statice, in the Sunken Garden. It's a favorite for dried flower arrangements due to its lasting color.
Throughout the month, the fan-shaped leaves of the ginkgo trees will slowing turn yellow, bringing gorgeous fall color to the Walled Garden.
Fuzzy, tube-shaped orange flowers give the lion's ear (or lion's tail!) plant its name. Native to South Africa, it can be a striking feature in a water-wise garden.
The first camellias of the season are opening, including the white sasanqua camellia 'Narumi-Gata' in the Walled Garden.
The upswept violet and white blooms of ivy-leaved cyclamen are dotted through the Woodland Garden. Some say the flowers look like butterflies in flight!
The English holly shrubs in the Walled Garden are getting in the holiday spirit with their bright red berries!
We're replanting the Knot Gardens to ensure they thrive for years to come! In this early stage of regrowth, their intricate patterns are clearer than ever.
