Exclusive Guided Tour
Guided Mushroom Hike
Select Days in January | 1:30–3pm
Wander through Filoli’s Natural Lands in search of mushrooms, fungi, lichen, and mosses. Guided by experts, you’ll explore both familiar trails and quieter corners where these treasures await.
Experience Includes:
- 90-minute guided tour through Filoli’s Natural Lands, led by expert Filoli staff
- Exclusive access to trails typically closed to the public
- General admission to Filoli

Service Learning
Recording Filoli's Mushrooms with Citizen Science
Saturday, January 17 | 9am–12pm
Venture into Filoli’s winter woods for a day of fungi discovery with the BioBlitz Club. Capture and share your finds on iNaturalist as experts reveal the secrets of mushroom identification. Every observation helps unlock the hidden story of Filoli’s vibrant winter fungi.
Experience Includes:
- 3-hour guided tour through Filoli’s Natural Lands, led by expert Filoli staff and Citizen Science
- Fungi educational opportunities with the BioBlitz Club
- General admission to Filoli

Stories in Bloom
Christian Schwarz

Join acclaimed mycologist and author Christian Schwarz for a fascinating journey into the world of fungi. Drawing from his book Mushrooms of the Redwood Coast, Christian shares captivating stories about California’s diverse mushrooms, their ecological roles, and the wonder they inspire in our forests.
