Trails

Filoli currently has two hiking trails. The one-mile California Trail winds along cultivated fields and through oak woodlands. The Spring Creek Trail, opened to the public in June 2024, takes visitors on a half-mile loop along a scenic creek bed running through redwood understory.

California Trail

The California Trail is a one-mile loop that takes you through the fields, across the San Andreas Fault, and to Red’s Barn, where the Roth family housed their prized horses.

Spring Creek Trail

Hike along a creek through redwoods.
Moderate, 1/2 mile loop, 125 ft. elevation gain

The Spring Creek loop starts at the midway point of the one-mile nature trail right next to the Lamchin Interpretive Center. Visitors follow the story of water as they hike along a scenic creek bed and historic flume, a water infrastructure built over 100 years ago by William Bourn, the industrialist who constructed Filoli.

As you walk along the California Trail, make sure to stop by and say hi to a friendly Trolls awaiting in the Natural Lands this summer!

TROLLS: Save the Humans is a special exhibition features six folklore-inspired activist Trolls that have come to teach humans how to rediscover nature and to inspire humans to be good stewards of the earth.
