Spring Kickoff Weekend
March 1–March 2, 2025
Celebrate the arrival of spring at Filoli's Spring Kickoff Weekend! Enjoy a vibrant blend of tradition and fun as we welcome the season. On Saturday, enjoy performances by the Northern California Hanfu Association in stunning traditional Chinese attire. On Sunday, dive into J-Fashion with a bow-making activity for all ages and browse unique accessories from local vendors. Both days feature charming photo vignettes throughout the garden—so come dressed to impress and join us for this festive start to spring!

The Northern California Hanfu Association is visiting the Garden with pop-up performances in celebration of Chinese Floralia—a festival honoring the goddess of flowers. Relish in the beauty of historical Hanfu fashion and traditional Chinese music among the blooms. Come dressed to impress in your Hanfu fashions and take photos at our photo vignettes across the Garden.
The Northern California Hanfu Association is dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Chinese culture. They bring the elegant cultural heritage from their ancestors to our multicultural community in the Bay Area.

The Bay Area J-Fashion community is invited to don spring-inspired couture and frolic among the flowers for the picture-perfect shot. Enjoy lawn games, visit J-Fashion vendors, and strike a pose at fabulous photo spots throughout the Garden. Don’t forget to stop by the bow-making station so you can take home a piece of J-Fashion inspired by the beauty of Filoli.
Learn about Japanese fashion, or “J-Fashion”, with our partners at Bay Area Kei. This collection of alternative fashion styles began in the 90s in the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo, Japan. Fans from all over the world design, collect, and wear this eye-catching and elaborate fashion including gothic lolita, decora, and gyaru.

Bask in the spring season with an elegant tea service in Filoli’s Garden House—a truly unique setting located in the middle of Filoli’s 16-acre garden in full bloom. Discover Filoli's garden anew on this exclusive tour with the seasoned horticulture staff who know every inch of it. Learn about the history of the 16-acre English Renaissance garden, the stories of its treasured specimens, and journey behind the walls to see the magic that makes it happen. This is your opportunity to ask our horticultural experts your burning questions — whether about your home garden or your favorite Filoli tree!

House Curatorial Tour

First Thursday of the Month | 1:30–3pm
Discover the stories that bring the House to life with Filoli’s Curatorial Team. Get a glimpse behind the curtains of Filoli, including the rarely on-view second floor of the Historic House, which is not typically available to the general public. Highlights include the Family’s bedrooms, sweeping views from Agnes' Sitting Room, and the Curatorial Offices. Start the tour with sparkling wine and leave with a special gift to take home.
