We would love to meet and show you the many options for your wedding. Our Events Team is generally available for site visits Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm. Please ensure you have reviewed the package information prior to scheduling. Site visits generally take 30 to 45 minutes.
No. There is no smoking allowed anywhere on Filoli property.
An onsite coordinator will assist with facility-related issues, but is not responsible for event planning. All event coordination is the responsibility of the client, and we highly recommend an event coordinator or to give this responsibility to one of our full-service catering partners.
Yes. All of our caterers are well versed in the policies and procedures of Filoli.
Only white wine or other clear beverages are allowed in the Historic House. Beer and any liquid darker than white wine is not allowed. Any colored beverage is allowed in our outdoor spaces.
We required a licensed caterer to pour alcohol. You will need to contact the catering company you have chosen to discuss corkage or any fees associated with this.
Candles in covered holders are allowed in the Gardens. We do not allow any open flames inside the Historic House or Ballroom.
No. However, for events larger than 200, we highly recommend renting Water Cottages or Portable Washroom units.
Yes. The Filoli requires a certificate of insurance for a minimum of $1 million in general liability coverage. The client obtains this through their insurance company and must provide it seven days prior to their event. This is also available online: wedsafe.com or theeventhelper.com.
All outside vendors hired by renter to work on Filoli Property must also provide general liability insurance for a minimum of $1 million in general liability coverage. This includes caterers, rental companies, and entertainers. Additionally insured should include Filoli Center and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Filoli has a preferred security vendor if you need a referral but you are also welcome to hire your own security for your event.
We have Wi-Fi capability in the Lecture Hall only. At this time, all other networks are private. We recommend portable hot-spots for events in the garden that require Wi-Fi.
We offer a 20% discount for nonprofits. We also offer a 10% discount to Roth or Benefactor Members. Do note, discounts cannot be combined.
Parking is free but limited. For groups over 300, we may require shuttles or valet parking to ensure you have enough parking space for your group.
- Amplified music during public hours is not permitted.
- Acoustic music during public hours may be allowed with advance approval from the Events Manager.
- Amplified music is allowed after public hours with the approval of Filoli’s Events Manager.
The client is responsible for the set-up and removal of all equipment used for their event. This is typically handled by the caterer. The caterer is responsible for the cleaning of food preparation areas and food service cleanup during and after the event, including all rental equipment such as tables, chairs, flatware, glassware, etc. All trash must be removed at the completion of the event. Caterer clean up includes sweeping, mopping and hosing food prep areas.
If you are hosting an event during public hours, admission is included with your rental fee. For events after hours this may vary depending on which space you rent.
Filoli only provides an in-house projector, microphone, and screens for the Lecture Hall. If anything is required in addition to this or if you have rented another space, you must contract an outside vendor to manage this service.
Wedding rehearsals take place the day before your event between 10am to 3pm and must be scheduled with Filoli’s Events Manager. Please be advised that the grounds will be open to the public during rehearsals.
Filoli has several spaces available that the bride could get dressed in before the ceremony. Coordinate with the Events Manager to find out what spot best suits your needs.
No, Filoli will have event staff on site to manage the facility but does not plan events or coordinate them for you. A hired professional Event Planner is required prior to contracting for all weddings. If you need a referral for a quality planner, please reach out to our Events Team.
Eight hours of setup time is included with our ceremony and reception package. If you are just hosting your ceremony with us, we allow 3 hours of setup. Do note, Filoli will be open to the public during set up and may request some areas are set prior to public opening. For additional questions, please put us in touch with your wedding planner.
If there is a chance of rain, you will need to have a rain plan with a tenting vendor. Our only indoor options are the Ballroom and Lecture Hall, which are not well suited for larger events/weddings.
- An event date is secured once your rental contract is signed and you’ve paid a deposit of 50% of your total rental fee.
- Filoli has a graduated cancellation policy, as follows:
- Cancellation 30+ days prior to the contracted event date: Deposit can be used as a credit toward a future event.
- Cancellation 29 days to 7 days prior to event: Deposit is forfeited.
- Cancellation less than 7 days prior to event: Full contracted rental fee will be charged.
- Payment in full is due on or before the day of your event.
