Winter Solstice - SOLD OUT!

Enjoy the shortest day of the year at this mid-winter fete.

This Event is Sold Out!

Officially the first day of winter, the winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night. It occurs when one of the Earth’s poles is at its maximum tilt away from the Sun. The days will get progressively longer until the longest day of the year at the summer solstice in June. The winter solstice has long been celebrated by many peoples around the world as the beginning of the return of the sun and light.

Celebrate the allure the shortest day of the year with us! A ceremonial lighting ceremony, mystical musical entertainment set the stage for this magical evening. The night begins with a glass of sparkling wine and light hors-d’oeuvres included with the ticket. Both the House and Garden will be open for this special night. Additional wine, beer, and coffee are available for purchase.

Returning by popular demand, Kitka Women’s Vocal Ensemble will delight guests with their hauntingly beautiful repertoire of traditional songs from the Balkans, Caucasus and Slavic lands, as well as new material composed for the group drawing on those traditional vocal practices.
