Bay area floral designer Pat Gibbons and natural perfumer Laurie Stern have created this fun and unique series of classes that combines flower arranging and the art of botanical perfumery. You’ll be able to compare the scent of fresh flowers to their distilled essences and learn how to bring the magic of flowers into your world. Delight in seasonal scents and flowers as Pat demonstrates flower arranging with lovely seasonal blooms and Laurie demonstrates combining these natural scents to create one–of–a–kind perfumes. Each student will create a beautiful floral arrangement and a solid perfume to take home.

Let us transport you to the Mediterranean Sea where lemon and honey myrtle, lavender, rosemary, and citrus’s sooths and calms, and you will create a scent as soft as a summer breeze. Laurie will guide you in making a botanical perfume highlighting the scents of summer and Pat will showcase the bounty of summer flowers as you design a full, lush bouquet using scented flowers and foliage.

Rich, autumn colors and scents will be the focus of this workshop. Using pods, berries and colorful seasonal fruit and flowers Pat will guide you in making a stunning fall arrangement and how to decorate a container with natural elements like cinnamon sticks and star anise. Laurie will offer you the rare opportunity to relax and inhale rare natural perfume essences then show you how to create a natural room spray mist using woods and spices, like cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and fir.

Learn to create beautiful holiday centerpieces using aromatics such as pine, citrus, and cinnamon, along with accenting berries and branches using a variety of containers for different effects. Then get carried away by pleasant and healing scents with the focus on respiratory oils and their anti-viral and aroma-therapeutic effects while creating your own roll-on bottle of defense against winter colds, and an aromatic winter wonderland room or linen spray.
