The Aurora Mandolin Orchestra continues a strong tradition of mandolin music that flourished in San Francisco’s North Beach area in the middle of the 20th century. It is composed of professional and amateur musicians from all over the Bay Area. The uniqueness of this group is in its varied repertoire including traditional and semi-classical Italian, Spanish, Russian, and contemporary orchestral compositions.
The Aurora Mandolin Orchestra consists of more than 30 members with professional and amateur musicians playing mandolin, mandola, mandocello, guitar, string bass, accordion, flute and percussion, who travel from various parts of the Greater Bay Area for a weekly rehearsal.
The Aurora Mandolin Orchestra (AMO), the largest and one of the oldest orchestras of its kind in Northern California has performed many concerts over the years to thousands of intrigued listeners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Come listen to popular classics from all over the world executed in our beautiful ballroom.
