In every season, Filoli’s historic Garden serves as an inspirational setting for horticulture classes. Techniques taught by Filoli’s Garden staff are for the novice home gardener or those in the profession to apply to their own gardening projects.

Orchids have long bloom times, look fantastic when featured under glass, and are a welcome addition to a kitchen or dining table in the winter months. A glass container, a miniature blooming orchid, and an assortment of small plants and mosses will be provided for you to create your own miniature terrarium.

Using Filoli’s cutting garden as inspiration, learn the basics of how to design a cut flower garden that suits your style, space, and needs. Choose and grow a variety of annual and perennial plants to produce cut flowers and foliage all season long. Soil amendment, irrigation, and flower varieties will also be reviewed.

Discover how to design and care for a beautiful container garden. This class will focus on edible flowers and herbs. Container gardens are great for gardening in small spaces and to add a WOW-factor to patios, entryways, and other outdoor areas. Best of all, they provide constant color. You will take home your own container garden. Fee includes materials. Bring gloves, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to get your hands dirty.
